I just thought I’d share a few of my favorite pictures from the ward Pioneer Day activity on Friday. This one is the three older boys dressed up for the costume contest. I told Nate to smile and he informed me that pioneers didn’t smile in their pictures. He’s right--little Mr. Smarty-pants. Here’re Seth, Joel and David doing an old-fashioned stick pulling contest. Betcha can’t guess who won. David did this time but it won’t be too many more years until the boys can take him. Here’s one of Daniel enjoying a big slice of delicious watermelon. Good stuff. And this last one is Nate thoroughly enjoying himself in a friendly match of tug of war. He is holding his prized cup of homemade butter in his left hand—I finally convinced him to let me hold it for him so he could use both hands to pull.
It was a great day. Too bad everyone started feeling sick that evening. We’ve been dealing with fevers and sore throats for the last couple of days now but it seems to be a fairly short-lived illness and for the most part people are starting to feel a little better. Tomorrow we’ll probably be ready to take on the world again.

These are great pictures! I hope you all get better quickly.
These pictures are so much fun! I love the one with Daniel and the watermelon. Classic. I also love that Nate said pioneers didn't smile. What a funny kid. You missed a rip-roaring time at the Emery parade! Or maybe this was way more fun (Pretty sure it was).
What cute little pioneer boys! Aw yes . . . . those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer . . . memories the boys will never forget.
