Lovely, Lovely Bedtime

There was never a child so lovely but his mother was glad to get him to sleep.

Sometimes the loveliest part of the day is late at night when all the children are sound asleep. Everything has finally calmed down I can just take a minute to breathe. I took a walk in the cool night air—my cheeks feel rosy. I love that it actually felt like spring today and not summer. I’m not ready for summer just yet. There was a faint smell of wood smoke on the breeze. I love the way houses look at night with warm light pouring from their windows. I imagine families snuggled together inside safe and warm and dreaming.

Danny crashed on the couch Daniel zonked out on the couch tonight—age 3 years, 9 months.

Other lovely after-the-boys-are-in-bed things today: listening to my washer and dryer run and folding laundry so that my children have nice clean clothes for school; a little bit of yoga; chocolate milk.

What loveliness did the day bring to you?
