Life As I Know It

I decided to do a little photo documentary of some of the recent scenes that I have encountered around my house thanks to my boys. Welcome to my life:

This plastic horse has gotten himself into a precarious position by hanging from one of the towel rings in our dressing room.

"What is this?" you ask. It an empty shelf in the boys' closet (which is doubling as our pantry/food storage room at the moment). "So," you say, "what's so remarkable about an empty shelf?" Let me tell you. This is remarkable because just 72 hours earlier this shelf was home to five--yes, five--boxes of Cheez-Its. *Sigh* I really wish my kids wouldn't eat us out of house and home, but at least I got a good deal on the crackers.

Nothing too exciting here--just a Lego booby-trap on the door mat by the front door. Bare feet: BEWARE!

One of the boys decided to add the boar tusk Joel found in the woods to the fossil/rock collection I have housed in this old printer's tray. Can you spot it? It doesn't exactly fit size-wise, but I guess it fits in with the other teeth and bone fossils.

So that's where the missing kitchen chair went.

Apparently this is one boy's idea of "putting away" his clean laundry. I'm working on teaching my boys to hang up their clothes or put them in the drawers, but it is a slow process.

This WWII army action figure is practicing his rappelling on the pull cord for the attic stairs.

Mohawks in the bathtub. No further explanation needed.

I saved the best for last. I had created this cute little woodland themed terrarium in a jar with the fawn and the little mushrooms, then a couple of days ago as I was walking by I noticed that a wolf had happened upon the poor unsuspecting baby deer. When I questioned my boys about it they insisted that they were just making it more realistic. Wolves have to eat too, you know.

That brings us to the end of this documentary journey. I hope you've enjoyed this small glimpse into my world with four sons. As you can see, it is a world often fraught with peril, excitement and drama. Even so, it's a pretty great place to live.

I love every bit of this post. The wolf eating the fawn is absolutely hilarious, and I can't stop laughing.
