Beautiful Day of Peace and Rest

Today was a lovely day at church. There was an excellent Relief Society lesson on using our agency to make good choices--you could tell that the teacher put a lot of thought into it and there was good discussion among the sisters as well. It gave me a lot to think about. Like am I listening to what the Holy Ghost has to tell me or am I "contending against" him because I want to do what I want to do.
My class was probably the most successful I've had so far. We talked about being member missionaries and how to answer questions that our friends might have about the church. I broke the class up into groups of two except for the young men who I put into one group of three and then another one showed up late so they made a group of four. One member of the group was supposed to act as a non-member friend and the other as themself and do a role play for the class about what questions and answers might arise in interactions with those not of our faith. It was really good actually. The boys were goofy and made me laugh but I was also able to get a glimpse of their testimonies and they are really good guys. It was interesting because two of the young women said they didn't have any non-member friends. They have both been homeschooled their whole lives and apparently really don't find other opportunities to interact with non-members. It made me think about how important it is to be "in the world but not of the world." How can we share our light if we don't even know any non-members? The rest of the lesson was about Isaiah's prophecies concerning the Savior's Atonement. It was awesome because it gave me several opportunities to share my testimony and I felt like for once they were actually looking at me and really listening. I feel confident that they felt the Spirit and that was so encouraging. I know that I will still have many challenges in teaching this class but I am so grateful that I do have a testimony and that the Lord is helping me in this calling.
Sacrament Meeting was great too. The talks focused on member missionary work (a perfect complement to my lesson) and Christlike service. I left feeling happy and wanting to do better and that is exactly how one should leave church in my opinion. Posted by Picasa

I'm so glad that your class seems to be going well! I think of all of the days of the week, I miss you guys most on Sundays, even though we were sometimes so busy we hardly had a chance to visit. Call you soon!
