Every day when Nate gets off the school bus I ask him for the report: “Did you have a good day at kindergarten?” Ever since the incident his answer has been a happy “I didn’t get in trouble today.” Well, except one day when he got in trouble for getting a drink of water without permission. I understand the need for rules but I’ve been training him to be independent since he was born. You want water? Well, go get some then. Now all of a sudden he needs permission? I understand that that’s going to take a little getting used to so I don’t have a problem with him for slipping up one time. Anyway, today we went through the little routine of me asking and him about his day and him answering “I didn’t get in trouble today.” His friend Kaitlyn, who rides home with us, told us she got in trouble once and had to be in time out. Nate’s answer was “Time out isn’t trouble. Throwing bricks and getting water is trouble.” Lessons learned.
