Utah Adventures: Part 8, Two Christmases

Christmas 2010We were so lucky to have two Christmases this year. One with my side of the family and one with my husband’s side.

We also had two Christmas Eves. Unfortunately I forgot my camera for the talent show and nativity with David’s family. Our family always has a Shepherd’s dinner complete with lamb chops. Then we read the nativity from Luke 2 in the New Testament.  Christmas 2010 (1)Christmas 2010 (2) We took turns reading from the scriptures this year.

Christmas 2010 (3)The boys were excited to see what Santa Claus brought. Santa doesn’t wrap presents at our house so here are the boys at the top of the stairs waiting for the okay to come down and see what Santa brought.

Christmas 2010 (4)After all the kids checked out their loot from Santa we got together in the living room and took turns opening presents.

Christmas 2010 (5) It was a relaxing morning. We stayed in our pajamas way too late. We played with the toys the boys got. Danny and Nate thought Uncle Carter was hilarious with the turtle puppet Santa brought Danny. They still walk around quoting “I said ‘good day sir’” when they are playing with it.

Christmas 2010 (6) Nate’s double barrel nerf shot gun was a big hit with everyone as well. The men folk and a couple of the girls went out shooting. We cooked Christmas dinner and enjoyed it together. I took a nap.

Candy Cane Hockey (5) Candy Cane Hockey (10) Later that evening some of the family played table hockey with candy canes as sticks and a walnut as the puck. It made for some good times. We ended the evening by a frosty walk along the Provo River Trail followed by hot chocolate. It was wonderful.

The following Monday we had Christmas up in Bluffdale.

Christmas 2010 (7) We had a second Christmas dinner with the family,

Christmas 2010 (9) opened presents and just generally enjoyed one another’s company.

Christmas 2010 (8)

I couldn’t feel more blessed.
