Today I was cleaning up one of the boys’ bedrooms. Someone had gotten into the card games that we keep in the closet and there are about 7 different card games all mixed together and scattered all over the room that I now have to sort and put away. Fun times.
I started to clean up the mess and began by picking up this bible card game we have. It says on the box it is made for all card games. The cards—four of each type—all have illustrations of both old and new figures such as Adam and Eve, Moses, Paul and Peter. My favorite is Queen Esther. As I was looking at the card and I just couldn’t get over the fact that Queen Esther looks like she belongs in a beauty pageant in 1985.
Seriously. Check her out: the hair, the giant gold earrings—she even looks like she’s wearing shoulder pads. And of course there’s the crown (although it’s a little humble as far as beauty pageant crowns go). Somehow, I don’t think this is a very accurate representation of Queen Esther. I do think it’s probably an accurate representation of when the game was created though. If I had to guess when it was manufactured I’d say, oh, about 1984 or ‘85.
I did a little research and wasn’t able to figure it out for sure. I do know it was manufactured by Sounds of Zion and isn’t in circulation anymore. It’s a first edition so I figure it could be from as early as when the company started but I can’t find that information either. So, want to help me out? Would you like this rad card game in your game collection? I’ll send it to anyone who can tell me when it was made. Any takers?
