Unwelcome Guests

slugs Let me start by stating unequivocally that I hate slugs. There are not many creatures in the animal kingdom that I find more disgusting. Basically they are crawling blobs of mucous. Gag. I realize snails are basically slugs with shells but for some reason they just don't gross me out as much. I hate spiders but they can usually be taken care of with a well-placed swat from a shoe or rolled up magazine. Ants are bothersome but not gooey. Slugs, on the other hand: slimy, nasty, oozy. In fact even the name slug has a certain unsavory quality. Well, imagine my chagrin when I looked at my kitchen door and saw these nasty creatures oozing all over it. Not on the outside mind you, but right there on the inside in my kitchen.  How did they get in? I don't know, but I suspect that they must have squished themselves through the cracks between the door jamb and the door. I do know this: I will be getting my salt out and leaving a generous line of it along the base of both the inside and the outside of my door. I really don't want these house-guests to visit again any time soon.

Gag is right. Grody to the max. The sight of a slug actually causes me to throw up a little bit in my mouth, so thank you. And they were INSIDE?! Blech!!

SICK! I'm sorry you had to deal with that. It could be worse (in my mind, anyway)--it could be mice. I hope the salt will keep them far away from now on!

Wow, that is really nasty. Sam and I used to pour salt on the snails that were in the flower beds. It works! Good luck.

Salt does work. Beer is also supposed to work, but I have never tried it. Come to think of it, with your 4 boys around, I think I would stick with the salt.
