Way Back Before Cars and Television

I was helping Joel with his homework. He was supposed to read the clue and then write the spelling word from the list that fit it in the blank. The clue was "add a letter to 'how' to get another word for movie." The answer was "show." Seth piped up with "I'll give you a hint. It's what they called it in olden times--like when mom and dad were young." After a split second of feeling insulted I just burst out laughing.
