Blast From the Past

I heard that we were going to get some new neighbors just down the road who are also members of our church. Since I have connections, I heard that they would be moving in today so I got the boys cleaned up and headed on down the street to introduce myself. The wife opened the door and said, "You must be the Dunns" (apparently she's connected too). I said yes and started to introduce all of us. She told me I looked familiar and we got to talking and figured out we were in the same ward at BYU our Freshman year. I didn't know her very well before because we lived on different floors in the same building but I always thought she was nice. We chatted for a little while and had a nice visit and I am excited to get to know her better. I came home feeling pretty excited at this prospect for a new friend. I know it's a little cliche, but people wouldn't say it if it wasn't true: it really is a small world (especially within the Church). I'm going to bring them some dinner in a few minutes because I know when I was unpacking the last thing I wanted to do was cook or do dishes.

This little encounter made me start reminiscing about the BYU years. Those were such happy times. It seems really weird that in fewer years than I have been gone, Seth could possibly be attending school there. I love the BYU campus. I miss going to classes, eating a sack lunch on the lawn outside between classes, walking through the bookstore, studying in the library, checking out the fish on the 1st floor of the Widtsoe building, going to a football game and all those other great things that are part of the BYU experience. I had good friends, and of course that's where I met and dated Dave. Ah yes, good times. Good times.
