We had a wonderful time at the beach this past week. It was hot and humid but the water was nice (except on algae jello day) and the company was fantastic. Unfortunately Joel was sick most of the time, but he was still able to enjoy himself a little. We wished David could have come with us but he is in the final stages of finishing up his PhD so he needed to stay home and work and put some time into writing his dissertation.
Monday: We drove down and arrived in the early afternoon. We went down to the beach immediately. The waves were pretty rough as it had stormed earlier. I tried boogie boarding for the first time then we headed back up to the house when it started to rain again. That evening we played Snorta with the boys before bed then Anne and I went for a walk along the beach. I loved spending time with my sister.
Tuesday: We were at the beach twice on Tuesday. We went down in the morning and Patrick made us a picnic lunch. It was overcast and there were tons of shells from the storm the day before so we had a lot of fun shell hunting (I will have to take a picture of Joel’s awesome find and post it later). The waves were still pretty choppy but we stayed a long time that day. We all got sunburned despite wearing sun block and even reapplying it after a couple of hours. We went back in the evening to watch the sunset and went for a long walk along the beach after it got dark. Anne and I played Snorta with the teenagers and we all laughed a lot. It was a great day.
Wednesday: It was Nate’s birthday. We went to the beach in the morning for a couple of hours then came back to the house and had siestas during the hottest part of the day. That evening we had a birthday party for Nate on the roof complete with cupcakes and ice cream cups.
Thursday: We went to the beach in the morning and Nate’s cousins and Uncle helped him fly the kite he got from them for his birthday the day before. After that we came back, packed up and cleaned the whole house. We got back on the road around 2:00 and made it home a little before 7:00. It was a wonderful trip.

Looks like so much fun -- and we love Snorta, too! :)
I wish I could have been there with you. I LOVE the beach more than the mountains. There's nothing more relaxing than listening to the waves crash on the shore. What fun!
haha, "I can't see!" that was awesome. Glad it was so much fun!
So fun! Just looking at these pictures makes me homesick for all of you. I hope you are doing well!
Wow, the sand is so white and beautiful. I would love to have been there with all of you! It was so good to see the pictures and the video (salt water in Nate's eyes and all!) He will always remember that wonderful birthday, but I can't help but be homesick because I remember celebrating it with him last year. Thanks for your wonderful posts!
Wow its beautiful, what an amazing trip!
