Charity Never Faileth

Dana's pears

I taught the lesson in Relief Society today. It was on Charity. The Bible Dictionary says charity is, “The highest, noblest, strongest kind of love, not merely affection; the pure love of Christ. It is never used to denote alms or deeds or benevolence, although it may be a prompting motive.”

The prophet Joseph Smith said, “When persons manifest the least kindness and love to me, O what power it has over my mind…”

funeral flowersThis past week I was the recipient of charity. I didn’t just receive pears and flowers—I received a boost to my spirit. I received an assurance that my Heavenly Father is mindful of my concerns and struggles. I received expressions of the “highest, noblest, strongest kind of love.”

Hurrah for sisterhood! Hurrah for the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Hurrah for charity!
