Rocket Scientist??

Well, my vacuum finally bit the dust (literally) after almost 11 years. It has broken in the past and David was able to fix it, but this time there was no way to repair it short of ordering a bunch of new parts. Yes, cleaning out our van proved to be too much for the old girl so after countless times vacuuming up entire boxes of rice krispies and pounds of flour, the occasional penny and lite brite peg and even a sock once we bid our vacuum adieu and got a new one (it is awesome by the way--I can't believe the difference between it and our old one). I took Nate and Dan with me to Wal-Mart today to pick one out (the Bissell Powerforce Bagless Turbo) and then we brought it home where it sat in the box until earlier this evening when I had the room actually picked up enough to vacuum. Of course it required some assembly and was in various pieces when we opened the box. Nate and Joel were hovering nearby as I set out the pieces and looked over the directions. When I unwrapped the main body of the vacuum Nate pointed at it excitedly and declared, "It's a jet-pack, Mom!"
"No, it's just a vacuum" I said.
He was adamant, "No Mom, it is a jet- pack!"
Who knows, maybe it could be a jet-pack with the right mechanical adjustments. Who am I to say it isn't. Maybe Nate is a rocket scientist in the making. They all have to start somewhere.

ok I haven't laughed that hard all week. Thank you Jill for brightening my outlook on this dismal finals week.

Nate sounds exactly like Matthew. Between your blog and Amy's, it's very reassuring to find that all 3 (almost 4) year olds appear to be alike in their absolute knowledge of the world!

A jet pack? I don't think I knew what a jet pack was at that age. Oh wait, that's because I busy playing with My Little Pony, and Strawberry Shortcake. I think the kid is destined for ivy league. Watch out world, here comes Nate the Rocket Scientist!
